Spitfire Audio Eric Whitacre Choir Review

Eric Whitacre is a composer, and choral director who became famous in 2010 when he released his first album under his own name, Light & Gold. His compositional style often involves the use of note clusters, and this could be why his output resonates with other libraries from the Spitfire catalogue.

This library might not be useful for an action sequence in a feature film, but what it will do is coexist with other libraries. It beautifully melts into certain styles of music, either with contemporary or even as a pure colour for Renaissance-inspired work.

KHORDS is a sample-based virtual instrument powered by Loopmasters and sold exclusively at Pluginboutique. This virtual instrument is easy to use as Bass Master but with a much broader sonic palette.

KHORDS has the finest sampler presets which makes it easier to come up with a lot of musical ideas. It contains a lot of musically rich and evolving sounds making it a powerful sample-based instrument. The sound designers did an amazing job on the factory patches for KHORDS. All the patches sounded like it could be used as the main element of a track.

Musical ‘notes’ are composed of fundamental tones and harmonics. It’s the harmonics that allow you to distinguish between several instruments. By integrating the fundamental and harmonic tones, we recognize the notes from the musical instruments and the ones sung by a vocalist.

As we all know, the human ear is more sensitive to certain octaves in the musical spectrum than to others. The spectrum where speech and voice communication occurs is called the midrange frequencies. And the human ear is tuned more towards this frequency range. Therefore, a very small energy changes in the midrange frequencies cause much more noticeable effects than larger changes in the very low and/or very high-frequency ranges.
