Add New Dimensions To Your Tracks Using Clip Envelopes In Ableton Live
Mixing through the same envelope is something that producers have wanted to do for decades. The new dimensions within Ableton Live allow you to be able to use the tools that you need to engineer things in the proper direction, simply by dragging the mouse around.
You are going to see more people looking for different ways to mix songs using their iPads, and it does appear that this technology is compatible with that concept. You have to find a way to make everything is going to gel with this technology when you want to add dubs to a track for example.
Key Takeaways:
- Clip envelopes are tantamount to cues that alert tracks that they need to fade, or pan out.
- Clips are great tools for creating evolving sound, particularly if you make a point of working with varying lengths together.
- Live has an output target preference to enable users to send track automation out to other softeare, or hardware.
“Clip envelopes are Live’s take on automation, particularly in Session View, while in Arrangement they merge into track automation as well, but fundamentally, there’s not much difference.”
