Snare drums are a fundamental part of your drums as they are the foundation and backbone to your rhythm. Insufficient power and lack of presence are common problems encountered by producers when adding snares in the mix.
The first step is choosing the correct sample. Choose samples that work well together and does not create any conflict frequency-wise. Layer 3 different sample to create a powerful snare drum. The main layer, a high layer, and a character layer. Once everything has been adjusted, add a compressor to the group of layers. What it does is it adds a little more impact and snap to the snare drum.
