What’s The Difference Between Mixing and Mastering?

Trying to figure out the difference between mixing and mastering? I’ve since learned how different they both are and how important each one is to a professional sounding song.
Mixing, in a few words, is all about balancing individual instruments together. The job of a mixing engineer is to take several instruments and balance their volume, frequencies, dynamics, and spatial placement. Typically, mastering engineers get the exported mix from the mixing engineer. There’re 3 goals of the mastering process: to make the track louder, sound better, and more translatable in all kinds of speakers.
