Compression is often viewed as the second most important audio editing tool after EQ when you are mixing and editing the audio you recorded. In a perfect world, you wouldn’t need to do these things to your audio. But the world, as we know, is not perfect. The tones in the audio that we record often conflict with other audio sources, obscuring them or making them too loud, etc. EQ and compression give us some great tools for sculpting our sounds so the sound great together.
