Mobile Recording For Android With iRig Recorder
The iRig Recorder from IK Media is great for mobile recording. There is a free version as well as a paid, full version. The free version can record and optimize volume, while the full version ($4.99) also includes a waveform editor. Depending on your needs, you may be satisfied with using your device’s integrated mic, but the app does support external microphones. Whether you want to record a lecture, dictate a “note to self”, or whatever else comes to mind, iRig Recorder is worth a try.

Cakewalk SONAR X2a Update Available
Cakewalk has released the SONAR X2a update for SONAR X2 Essential, Studio, and Professional versions. This update adds Windows 8 support, including touch screen multi-touch features. Add all of that to the numerous enhancements that were made based on customer feedback and this update is definitely worth taking a look at. Best of all, it’s free.

Common Home Recording Studio Mistakes To Avoid
A love of music sometimes isn’t enough to motivate us to get to work in the studio. Keep your goals reasonable. Instead of being dissuaded by the huge cost of professional equipment, remember that home studio gear doesn’t need to be expensive to get good results, and that there is a lot to be said about who is working with the equipment, not just what equipment they’re working with.
