A blog post I saw this morning caught my eye with a question about whether mixing is even necessary. It was meant to be a joke. I think this is because a lot of sites in the audio recording space focus strictly on music. Here at Home Brew Audio, we understand that lots of folks will be mainly, if not exclusively interested in voice over recording. So the question of mixing even being necessary, in my mind, is “sometimes it is not.” A majority of my day-to-day audio recording is done to audition for or complete voice over jobs. Though I sometimes use a multi-track program like Reaper to record these jobs (multiple small voice files or alternating male/female voices), I seldom actually need to mix. I just put everything on one track, glue them all together as one file, and blammo, done. No mixing.
But the article may be worth a look, so here is a link to it: http://therecordingrevolution.com/2011/11/04/
Cheers!
