Voice Recording Tips – Prep Your Whole Body

When you record your voice, you'll be preparing things for the recording session, like microphones, software, music stands, etc.  But many folks forget to actually prepare the voice itself.  You may need to warm up, especially if recording singing, drink some luke-warm water (or beer - yes, my choir director used to say beer was great for the voice!), etc.

But don't forget that your voice comes from your throat (most folks wont' forget that bit:)), which is connected to the rest of your body.  Sometimes it's necessary to do other things with your body to get a good vocal recording.  Posture is important, for example.  Or sitting vs standing may be a thing.
