Tips For Choosing A Commercial Recording Studio

There are still reasons to go to a commercial recording studio even in this day and age of superb home recording technology.  Let's say you need to record a large orchestra or other type of ensemble.  Dynamic range is hugely important for some types of recording and if you can't close-mic everything (one main way we reduce the effect of nasty room sound in home studios), you'll need a great sounding space that is also large.  Sadly, those are rare in most home recording situations.

Of course there are other reasons to use a commercial recording studio, such as access to gear that you can't afford, insistence by a major label (or other party who may be fotting the bill - shya!), etc.  So if you find yourself knowing you need to book some studio time, this article has 3 tips for helping you make your decision.
